2nd Annual GAS60 Results
First and foremost this race simply would not happen without the support of the Missouri Department of Conservation. We are very lucky to live in a state with such a dedicated and talented agency! The accesses were absolutely wonderful. I hope everyone is well aware that the section of river we were on was just hit with a monster flood. The bathrooms at some of the accesses were completely under water just weeks ago. Thanks MDC for your hardwork and support.
Secondly I’d like to thank the sponsors of the 2nd Annual GAS60. Epic Kayaks, ZRE, Hammer Nutrition, and Thetis Paddles really made this year awesome. Not only were these fine companies generous enough to help with the race but they are also companies that the Aquaholics support on every trip we take. Epic’s mid wing paddle helped us to a respectable finish in last years MR340. The fuel we almost exclusively used for training and competition was a variety of Hammer products including HEED (my personal favorite), Perpetuem, Hammer Gel, and Endurolytes just to name a few. When we weren’t swinging the mid wing, we pulled Bob Zaverals custom Power Surge Extreme. The companies that have sponsored the GAS60 are very reputable and simply provide the best products out there; quiet frankly we wouldn’t use them if they weren’t the best. So again, thanks for your help and I hope all you racers out there will support our sponsors.
Lastly, please don’t forget that this race wouldn’t happen without all the volunteers. They do the majority of the work that makes these races possible. The next race that you go to, make it point to thank a volunteer. They are the unsung heroes the whole racing scene. There are many things that have to come together all on one day to have a successful race and I’m very thankful that everything worked out this year. If you‘re lucky enough to meet my wife, please tell her thank you for allowing me to dedicate so much time to the GAS60. I’m very lucky to have such a great family and friends that support me and my wild adventures, THANK YOU.
I'm already setting the stage for next year. The 3rd Annual GAS60 will have bigger cash prizes and even better gear give-a-ways.
Congradulations Lucky 13 (Joe Mann and Bryan Hopkins) for being the fastest boat overall!! Just three minutes behind them was Team Inertia for 2nd place overall. Third place overall goes to Team Pappy and Son.
